Sales of gasoline-powered vehicles peaked globally in 2018 at 80 million cars. Last year, the figure had fallen to only 62 million, a nearly 25% decline in just six years. And the pace is accelerating. Major economies like China and Europe - in addition to smaller developing nations - are abandoning gas cars for EVs very rapidly.
